NOTE: The information in this technote is presented as a guideline for making
changes to the Windows Registry. The Windows Registry is central to the
operation of Microsoft Windows, and any changes must be performed with care.
As with any configuration change, it is highly recommended that you have
complete backups of computer systems and data files before attempting the
following procedure, in order to facilitate recovery from system file
corruption or other possible failures. IBM does NOT recommend that you make
changes to the Windows Registry without the assistance of Microsoft Technical
Support. Furthermore, when manually modifying the Windows Registry, you may
not be eligible for Microsoft Technical Support until you have reinstalled
Windows. When making changes to the Windows Registry, you are doing so at your
own risk.

If you have not yet upgraded and are running Windows NT, make sure that Service
Pack 6 or 6a is installed. To verify this, follow the steps below:

1. Open the Windows Registry Editor by selecting Start --> Run and typing in:
regedit
2. Locate the following Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Dependant Components

3. Confirm that Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 has a value of 6.00.

Alternatively, you can remove this key entirely and restart the machine for the
change to take effect.
